Program & Outreach Coordinator

The Opportunity:
VolunteerCleanup.Org is a successful and growing non-profit looking to add a new staff member. We recently received a 2-year ‘Capacity Building’ grant of $40k per year to fund expansion in our current South Florida market, with plans to expand our programs state-wide. We are looking for an enthusiastic Part-Time or Full-Time staff member with leadership qualities looking to make a positive impact in the world while growing with our organization.

While the role will include some administrative-level tasks, the ideal candidate is looking for a long-term opportunity where they can grow their skills, provide unique and creative ideas, and execute on programs. You don’t currently need to be a marine debris expert today, a general concern for our planet and desire to make a positive impact on environmental issues is a must.

About us:
VolunteerCleanup.Org engages volunteers to clean up their neighborhoods, shorelines, and waterways as a way to raise awareness about marine debris and encourage people to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics. VolunteerCleanup.org is a free community technology resource (website), connecting volunteers to local cleanups led by various organizations and individuals. Any host can post a cleanup to our site and reach our database of volunteers. Any volunteer can search by zip code to find local cleanups or sign up to receive our weekly email blast of upcoming cleanups in their area. Since the project launch in 2014, we have fostered a community of over 150 cleanup organizer partners who have led 3,000+ cleanups, where 30,000 unique volunteers have removed over 600,000 pounds of trash from Miami-Dade County neighborhoods, shorelines and waterways. These 3rd party cleanup organizer partners (including individuals, community leaders, other non-profits, and City, County and State teams), utilize our website to promote their cleanups and lead regular cleanups due to our ability to help them lead successful events. Because of our unique focus on cleanups and recruiting volunteers (and amazing SEO optimization), we have become the go-to online destination for people to find out about local shoreline cleanup volunteer opportunities. We see ourselves playing a key role as facilitators and connectors that provide the support infrastructure to others who are also on this journey to save our oceans. We have also developed important, mutually beneficial relationships with The Ocean Conservancy (we are their local partner for their International Coastal Cleanup Day where we organize 55+ cleanups with 3,000 volunteers every September), Miami Dade County, and local Cities.

Responsibilities can include:
Respond to questions from the general public and help them become change makers in their own community
Assist and Lead Public Cleanups and Corporate Days of Service (we’ll train you)
Recruit and Train cleanup hosts and encourage them to use our event management platform

Job Perks:

Remote work with 1-2 office days per week
Opportunity to play a pivotal role in making a positive impact
Opportunity to grow your skills with coaching and mentoring from established, award winning change-makers

Candidate Requirements:
