New Website Launch

This November, we launched our new and improved version of our www.volunteercleanup.org event management platform!

We’ve been busy working behind the scenes to make a complete backend code re-write and infrastructure improvements to ensure the site can handle our increased site traffic and support our growing number of cleanups and volunteers, especially as we expand into other areas outside of Miami. We’ve also added some new features and functionality that we hope you will find valuable.

New Features: Waiver Integration
  • We have now integrated waivers into the signup process – this was the number 1 feature people asked for, and we are super excited for how it turned out.
  • When you create a cleanup you have the option to use our default waiver, use your own by editing/customizing our version or uploading your own PDF, or not using our system at all.
  • All attendees on the ticket order will receive an email to sign the waiver. If the volunteer is under 18, their guardian will be sent the waiver.
  • Details about which volunteers have signed waivers will be visible when you view or download your attendee information.
New Feature: Ask volunteers questions during registration
  • You now will have the option to ask volunteers a question when they register.
  • This is especially useful in situations where you need to ask for shirt sizes.
Coming Soon
  • Automated community service forms
  • Paid tickets and donations
  • Lots of little tweaks and features on our list, along with some design enhancements
Report Bugs
  • We appreciate your patience. You may experience some minor issues as we complete the process. But if you encounter something that doesn’t seem to be working as it should, we would appreciate you submitting a bug report below.
  • We also hope to hear what you think and give us any suggestions.

Launch of Trashathon

This year, we launched Trashathon, an innovative twist on the classic “-a-thon” fundraiser—like a read-a-thon or walk-a-thon—where participants collect per-pound pledges for every pound of trash removed during a cleanup. It’s a simple idea that turns trash into cash.

We first piloted the program in April to raise funds for Biscayne National Park, collecting $10,000. We then integrated Trashathon into our annual International Coastal Cleanup Day in Miami-Dade County, raising $12,000 to date for our organization and our nonprofit partners.

Now, we’re opening the platform to schools, community groups, and nonprofits everywhere, giving them a new, engaging way to fund their projects while helping the environment.

If your organization is interested in hosting a Trashathon fundraiser, we’d love to hear from you!
