Community Action Day @ Tropical Park (3rd Wednesday)

12 12 people viewed this event.

On select 3rd Wednesdays throughout the year, volunteers can assist the Tropical Park staff to keep the park clean and clear of litter and debris. Volunteers may get an opportunity to participate behind the scenes to see how Miami-Dade County maintains the health of our native ecosystems and natural areas. Responsibilities and duties listed below are examples of what volunteers may be doing, depending on park needs.

All volunteers must be registered prior to beginning service, and volunteers under 18 must be linked to a parent/guardian account in Park Link.

Responsibilities and Duties:

– Removing palm fronds and invasive/exotic plants
– Gardening and mulching
– Painting and light building maintenance
– Removing litter from shorelines and park grounds
– Pressure washing picnic shelters
– Sanitizing playground equipment
Qualifications: Volunteers must be comfortable being outdoors for an extended period of time.

Commitment Expected: Please arrive at your scheduled start time and check-in with park staff. Please bring a refillable water bottle, closed-toed shoes, and protection from the sun (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses). If you have your own gloves, we recommend bringing them. Community service hours letters will be emailed, by request, following the event.

If you would like to participate in this event, please register on ParkLink in advance.
