Community Planting Day @ MLK Jr. Memorial Park
Join us for Community Planting Days, a volunteer event that offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in our community. By participating, you can help protect and restore natural areas in and around Miami-Dade County. Our team of professional naturalists will guide you through projects such as planting native species, mulching and cleaning up litter. Together, we can preserve the beauty of our nature centers and parks.
All volunteers must be registered on Park Link prior to beginning service. Volunteers age under 18 must be linked to a parent/guardian account on Park Link Youth Under age 17 must have a parent/guardian present.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Planting native plant species
- Mulching trees around the park
- Additional tasks as needed
Qualifications: Volunteers must be comfortable being outdoors for an extended period of time.
Commitment Expected: Please arrive at your scheduled start time and check-in with park staff. Please bring a refillable water bottle, closed-toed shoes, and protection from the sun (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses). If you have your own gloves, we recommend bringing them. Community service hours letters will be emailed, by request, following the event.
