Crandon Park Oceanside ICC2025
Join Miami-Dade County Parks & Miami EcoAdventures at Crandon Park Oceanside for the 40th anniversary of the International Coastal Cleanup, the world's largest, one-day volunteer effort for our oceans and waterways! Show your commitment to reducing marine debris, along with millions of volunteers from across the globe! Volunteers at this event will be helping to remove marine debris along Crandon Park's 2 miles of sandy beach, including along the protected Bear Cut Preserve, a designated Environmentally Endangered Land, home to a diversity of rare plants and animals. Miami-Dade’s participation, organized by VolunteerCleanup.org, will feature 65+ cleanups all over the county with 4,000 volunteers. This year is the launch of Trashathon, a new fundraising concept where the community can make a per-pound pledge to support the overall cleanup effort. If you are unable to help clean up as a volunteer, you can still support the cause by making a pledge or sharing with others. Make a per-pound-pledge here! This year’s t-shirt and rash guard are available for purchase. Order before August 30 if you want to guarantee your shirt arrives before the cleanup.
Registration below is required to participate in the cleanup. Due to Park capacity guidelines, we will not be able to accommodate walk-ins.
What We Provide:
- We will provide garbage bags, gloves, and data collection cards!
- Water refill stations will be located along the route.
- Community service hour certificates will be provided to volunteers at the conclusion of the event.
- The completion of a liability waiver is required to participate in this event. All necessary waivers will be included in the check-in process.
- Park staff will provide a safety briefing and orientation to the site and specific volunteer activities at the start of the event.
- Following the introduction, staff will guide volunteers along the cleanup route.
Volunteer Expectations:
- Download the Ocean Conservancy’s CleanSwell app to log, tally and measure the impact of your cleanup and contribute to Ocean Conservancy's global marine debris database.
- Dress for the weather including sun protective clothing and please wear appropriate footwear. This is a beach site, and volunteers will be traversing sand so closed-toed shoes are required. For safety reasons, no flipflops or sandals are permitted
- Please bring water in a reusable container - we recommend at least one quart per person. Water refill stations will be located along the cleanup route. Let’s reduce waste and refuse single-use disposable plastic water bottles!
- Sunscreen and insect repellent is recommended
- If you have your own reusable working or gardening type gloves, bring them. We will be providing gloves but cannot guarantee they will be in your size
- Some volunteers like to use a bucket or grabbers during a cleanup. Ask a local restaurant if they get food service items in 5-gallon buckets and if they would like to donate for use during your cleanup!
Waivers are required to participate.
- A paper waiver for Miami-Dade County Parks will be provided on the day of the event.
- However, if you are under 18 and coming without a parent or guardian, you must have a parent/guardian print and sign the waiver HERE in advance, and bring it with you to the clean up.
VolunteerCleanup.org is grateful for our funding partners and this year’s inaugural Trashathon sponsors who are making per-pound pledges to support this high-impact annual event: The Miami Foundation, Blackstone Charitable Foundation, Biscayne Bay Recovery Fund, Miami Beach Cupid Splash, Benjamin & Gloria Joannou, Jr. Family Conservation Fund, Miami-Dade County DERM, Waste Connections.
