On the first Saturday of every month, volunteers can assist the Haulover Park staff and beautify this coastal park to keep our ocean ecosystem healthy. Volunteers will also get an opportunity to learn about their impact on local wildlife.
This volunteer opportunity is made possible with the support of our community partner, Miami-Dade County Sea Turtle Conservation Program (STCP). The STCP works to protect our sea turtle nests on 19 miles of Miami beaches during nesting season (March-October). STCP is committed to protecting our coastal and ocean ecosystems year-round, and educating the public on best conservation practices. Join STCP team members at our monthly coastal cleanups to learn more about the endangered sea turtle species that utilize our local ecosystems.
Responsibilities and Duties:
-Removing microplastics and trash
-Additional tasks as needed
Qualifications: Youth under 15 must have a parent/guardian present.
Commitment Expected: Please arrive at your scheduled start time and check-in with Sea Turtle staff. Please bring a refillable water bottle, closed-toed shoes, and protection from the sun (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses). If you have your own gloves, we recommend bringing them. Community service hours letters will be emailed, by request, following the event.
