Historic Virginia Key Beach Park ICC2026
Join us for the 41st International Coastal Cleanup — the world's largest one-day volunteer effort for our oceans and waterways! Show your commitment to reducing marine debris alongside millions of volunteers across the globe. Miami-Dade’s participation, organized by VolunteerCleanup.org and Clean Miami-Dade, features 65+ cleanups all over the county with 4,000 volunteers. This specific cleanup is being led by the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, a historical and ecological gem located only minutes from downtown Miami, welcomes all volunteers to help preserve and maintain the park.
T-shirts with this year’s marine animal theme, the Humpback whale, are available for purchase. Order before August 30 if you want to guarantee your shirt arrives before the cleanup.
The Miami-Dade ICC is made possible by the generous support of our strategic level sponsors Ocaquatics, City of Miami Commissioner Damian Pardo, and Terra Group, with additional support from Climate First Bank, City of Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins, and PADL.
Important details:
- Registration is required to participate in the cleanup.
- Online waivers, also required, will be emailed to you immediately after registering.
- We will provide water, garbage bags, gloves, and data collection cards. Community Service hours are also provided
- Please bring water in a reusable container. Let’s reduce waste and refuse single-use disposable plastic water bottles.
- Download the Ocean Conservancy’s CleanSwell app to participate in the Citizen Science activity to log, tally and measure the impact of your cleanup.
- Dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. This is a beach/park site, and you should wear closed toed shoes, long sleeve shirt, and long pants.
- Sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen are recommended.
- If you have your own reusable working or gardening type gloves, bring them. We will be providing gloves but cannot guarantee they will be in your size.
- Some volunteers like to use a bucket during a cleanup. Ask a local restaurant, bakery, or donut shop if they get food items in 5-gallon buckets they'd be willing to donate for your cleanup!
