Join us for the 40th anniversary of the International Coastal Cleanup! Be part of the world's largest, one-day volunteer effort for our oceans and waterways, and show your commitment to reducing marine debris, along with millions of volunteers from across the globe! 🌎💙
Did you know approximately 80% of marine debris comes from land based sources? That's why we're cleaning José Martí Park, to keep debris out of storm drains and the Miami River before it ever reaches the ocean. Here in Miami-Dade, VolunteerCleanup.org is organizing more than 65 cleanups sites with over 4,000 volunteers. This year also marks the launch of Trashathon, a new fundraising concept where the community can make per-pound pledges to support the organizations leading cleanups. Click here to make your pledge or share the link to support the cause! This year’s t-shirt and rash guard are available for purchase. Order before August 30 if you want to guarantee your shirt arrives before the cleanup. Date: Saturday, September 20th, 2025 | Time: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM (Check-In begins at 8:30 AM) | Location: Jose Marti Park (351 SW 4th Ave, Miami, FL 33130)📍📅 We will provide all the supplies you need for the cleanup activity, including buckets, garbage bags, gloves, data collection cards, pickers, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, bug spray, and water refills. Community Service hours are also provided! ✅ Registration below is required to participate in the cleanup. Important details:- 💧Please bring water in a reusable container. Let’s reduce waste and refuse single-use disposable plastic water bottles. Water refills will be available
- 📲 Download the Ocean Conservancy’s CleanSwell app to participate in the Citizen Science activity to log, tally and measure the debris you remove.
- 👟 Dress for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes. Sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen are highly recommended.
- You can complete the online waivers here in advance to help expedite check-in on the day of.
- However, if you are under 18 and coming without a parent or guardian, you must have a parent/guardian print and sign the waiver HERE in advance, and bring it with you to the cleanup.

Debris Free Oceans is a Miami-based 501(c)3 nonprofit with the mission of empowering local communities to go zero-waste so all can have access to clean oceans and a healthy environment. Since its inception in 2014, DFO has engaged over 12K volunteers in picking up over 64K pounds of trash, educated more than 14K students about marine debris, hosted more than 500 zero waste events, and prevented the use of more than 2M single use plastics through sustainability consulting.
