Miami Waterkeeper is proud to co-host the FIU Biscayne Bay Campus Baynanza 2024 location with Miami-Dade County, and The International SeaKeepers Society!

By registering here, you are joining Miami Waterkeeper’s group of volunteers at the FIU Biscayne Bay Campus site for Baynanza 2024!

Baynanza is a celebration of Biscayne Bay and its significance as one of the most important ecological systems in South Florida. Since Baynanza’s beginning in 1982, volunteers have helped remove over one million pounds of trash from Biscayne Bay!

  • Removal of marine debris from the water and surrounding mangrove habitats
  • We will be conducting a shore-based marine debris clean-up as well as several vessels transporting volunteers to and from the near by island to remove marine debris. This volunteer event may require heavy lifting hence teenagers and older groups are recommended. If younger age groups participate, they should be monitored at all times by the designated guardian, parents, etc.
  • *Community Service hours also provided*

  • Please be on time, registration begins 30 minutes before the volunteer workday starts. Please arrive at 8:30am!

Please Bring:

  • Refillable water bottle. Stay hydrated and be prepared to work outside and on the water.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required and long-sleeved shirts are and long pants are recommended (clothes that can get wet).
  • A hat, sunblock, and insect repellent (recommended).
  • Gloves and trash grabbers (if you have them-otherwise Miami Waterkeeper will provide all supplies).

The clean-up is weather dependent and the event will be canceled with at least 24 hours notice if inclement weather is anticipated.

Please note that by RSVPing, you are RSVPing to join Miami Waterkeeper at the FIU Biscayne Bay Campus location, not with Miami-Dade County for Baynanza 2024 as a whole.

If you are finding difficulties RSVPing to this event or have questions about this event, please email [email protected] and she will be happy to assist you!
