Rickenbacker Coastal Cleanup

On the third Saturday of every month, volunteers can assist the Causeway staff beautify this coastal park and keep our ocean ecosystem healthy. Gloves and trash bags will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own reusable gloves to reduce waste. In February 2024, join volunteers from Suzuki Marine for a special coastal cleanup in honor of the Suzuki Clean Ocean Project. Thanks to the generosity of Suzuki Marine & Informa Markets, complimentary Miami International Boat Show passes will be provided to volunteers following the coastal cleanup.

This opportunity is made possible with the support of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is committed to contributing to the communities in which they operate and responsibly managing their environmental impacts and social commitments. One of their guiding principles at Mandarin Oriental is ‘Acting with responsibility’, which they strive to achieve through their “Naturally Better” program.

Responsibilities and Duties:

– Removing microplastics and trash along the Virginia Key South (across from MAST Academy) shoreline
– Additional tasks as needed
Qualifications: Youth under 15 must have a parent/guardian present.

Commitment Expected: arrive at your scheduled start time and check-in with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group staff. Please bring a refillable water bottle, closed-toed shoes, and protection from the sun (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses). If you have your own gloves, we recommend bringing them. Community service hours letters will be emailed, by request, following the event.
